Ekokelong Association
 beautiful isn't it!?
Association Aims

This association intend to develop ecotourism in Indonesia. The concept and facilities are kept simple but comfortable. The eKoKelong, is completely sustainable, this means that we collect rain water for the shower, we use a  dry toilet system and electricity will be generated by the use of a windmill.
On the other hand the association intend to promote and protect the flora and fauna in Bintan island and its neighbouring islands  - Riau Archipelago - (there are plenty of islands all around, 99% of them not touristicly developed yet hopefully). The association intend to buy land to substract them from the world wild economy, hoping to protect some site from furious and devastating developments.

What we propose

So, what we offer is simple, and as local as we could propose. We wanted to create a place where people were able to live a little bit with the "othoctons". We provide the "frame" = the eKoKelong  and all the installations, and you do the rest.
It means we place the Kelong near a little Kampong, where you can ask for food, motorbikes or other services. We make arrangements before hand with local people to avoid day long negociations.
You will then have time to rediscover yourself, the astonishing surrounding islands and beachs and life with locals. This Kelong is a good introduction to eco-concepts and the survival lifestyle needed when the petrol will be at 300$. Get trained there!

Where we are...

We are situated at the moment (because we can move) on the East coast of Bintan - an island situated on South-East of Singapore (from singapore it is 1 hour of boat and 45 mins drive). It is a really nice place to take a break when travellling in Asia. Most of the time people stop in Singapore. The eKoKelong is just a couple hours away from Singapore and a good opportunity to discover a bit of Indonesia.

From there it is possible to continue island after island and reach Sumatra. There are a lot of boats for a wild range of destinations from Tanjung Pinang.
